On this page there are two designs. The first on the left is inspired by the work of Beth Kioji who designed a machine that uses a fan to collet water particles from the air, condense them and dispense water. I thought that something similar would be a good idea for the houses of Hazaribagh given that the ground water is often very unsafe. I designed a system in which there are fans on the roof of each home, which collected water from the air and dispense it through several water appliances, such as the sink, and the shower. On the right, is the design I decided to make. It's a water filter that sits in the rivers that run through Hazaribagh. River water enters from the base and travels through the aquaporine protein membrane that filters out the toxic chemicals (I learnt abut the protein from a documentary). At the top of the filter are solar panels that absorb the sun's energy which is then harnessed to kill the remaining pathogens in the water. The clean water is then pushed out of the holes in the side of the structure back in the river. The process is a continuous cycle.
