What have I learned from today's session? I have learnt that adding a random element to your work/theme can have a positive effect of the final outcome. For example, I never would have thought to use the elk article unless asked to find something random in class. Even with seemingly unrelated material, you can still make something that successfully relates back to the original theme i.e Hazaribagh, Bangladesh.

How will today's session help me in the future? When I am stuck on an idea or simply struggling to come up with ideas because I'm only absorbing information from one type of source, I will use the strategy of selecting something random from my environment or online. That way I can get out of a creative slump, add diversity to my work and end up making something that is more successful or that inspires me to take different creative pathways.

What am I learning about materials and processes? I am learning that making prototypes or simply first step models out of the materials you have on hand is a good way to help your brain generate ideas and get inspired. It also helps you find flaws in your original design (because you can only visualise so much in your head).

What went well? I like how the mask came out overall; it looks like a gas mask and the whole structure held itself together. I also like that I was able to change my ideas as I was making the mask. For example I found a cup in the resources box and decided to use that as the 'snout' of the mask rather than cardboard. I also changed the design of the antlers and how I wanted to make them several times in my head. I ended up going with a simpler design, but I like I much more than my original idea.

What have I learnt from working in a group? It was hard finding a way to connect all our pieces and photograph this in a specific context however, I have learnt that if we all put in an effort to try solve a problem we can come up with at least some solutions.
